Friends of Freedom Park

Notes from December meeting

Sunday, December 14, 2025

Friends of Freedom Park (FFP) met with the purpose of forming an official organization. At the meeting, the Mission statement was adopted, the bylaws were passed and Officers and Board Directors were elected.

  • Barrett Newsom, President

  • Miguel Fabbiani, Vice President

  • Hunter White, Treasurer

  • Katheryn Johnston, Secretary

  • Directors: Roger Morris, Ken Pope, Karen Torres, Thomas White

In the next month, the Board will complete necessary tasks to apply for non-profit status and open its own checking account. At that time, Lake Cherokee Community Foundation will handover funds that were designated by donors to Freedom Park and the Veterans Monument. FFP will maintain the highest integrity and strive to be good stewards of donated funds. A vision statement (where do we want the Park to be in 5 years? 10 years?) as well as strategic goals that will focus on ensuring Freedom Park is a place where Veterans and all shareholders can come to reflect and find peace, to honor and remember, and to feel proud to be an American and Lake Cherokee shareholder.

Look for FFP updates in monthly Cherokee Chatter, on the CWC portal Group, this website, and our Facebook page.
